Free time to enjoy this fine city with an 11th century Abbey and Roman ruins.
Market day on the Wednesday brings an added dimension with its colourful and vibrant stalls to shop for a bargain or do some early Christmas shopping. Plenty of time for shopping, coffee and lunch or visit the Cathedral, Verulamium Park that is near the Cathedral with beautiful walks, lakes, and Roman ruins, and a building that houses a Roman mosaic and hypocaust (underfloor heating) that was part of a sizeable town house built around 200 AD. There are free guided tours in the Cathedral daily 1.05 pm and 2.30pm to take visitors through 1700 years of history.
