Newmarket & Bury St Edmunds review

Monday 21 June 2021 was our first trip of the summer to the Newmarket National Stud in the morning and then onto Bury St Edmunds for the afternoon. Everyone who came on the trip said that it was a very successful day out.

Before arriving at Newmarket we stopped off at one of the Great Western Hotels, for tea/coffee and cake (all included in the price of the trip). Then a short drive to the National Horse Stud where we enjoyed a guided coach tour of the grounds, stopping off to see the magnificent stallions, the nursery paddocks with the mares and young foals, and the stables which looked like 5 star hotel accomodation for horses! The Stud Manager, who gave the tour, was very informative and was able to answer all the questions our group put to him.

We then travelled to Bury St Edmunds where ten of us joined the Blue Badge tour guide for a 90 minute tour of the town bringing to life, the people, the buildings and the history. The rest of the members enjoyed their free time in the town.
